it is the oldest square in the city and one of the most beautiful in Italy. Although the buildings surrounding it are from different eras, the square boasts an incredible harmony. To the south and east you can find medieval buildings (Palazzo Tofani, Torre dei Làppoli), to the north there is a sixteenth-century palace called Logge Vasari, to the west the Pieve of Santa Maria, the Courthouse (Palazzo del Tribunale)  and the fifteenth-century palace of the Fraternita dei Laici . Piazza Grande, also made famous throughout the world by the movie "Life is Beautiful" by Roberto Beningni, is, twice a year, the setting of the traditional "Giostra del Saracino". Furthermore, Piazza Grande is one of the places where, every first Sunday of the month and the previous Saturday, the Antiques Fair takes place.
